A big "post" from a simple email...

In this post i would like to show how much the Internet can be helpful if you just know were to "look".

Just a couple of hours i receive an email from a teacher that was about one set of conferences here in Portugal, i decided to go and see what it was, my result as a couple of hours reading articles and seeing videos that made some impact on me, and because of that impact i decided to publish what i have found and how.

First of all let me say that my interest in the ict tools as been a little "down", mostly because of my last project for the University were i discovered what i feared the most, that teachers in my area are not ready to use the ict tools that are available and that almost no one is giving them the formation that they need, and there`s nothing that i can do (and i have tried). Actually i did a post about my disbelief in the ict programs, which i sent to Stephen Downes, were he responds:

"Hiya Luis,

I don't really have anything concrete to say in the way of a response. I am not going to endorse the advice that people stop learning Web 2.0 and start instead focusing on their neighbours because I think it's wrong. That is into to say I endorse staying on the computer all day every day - but nobody does. In general, people are happier and more well-balanced when they have a wide variety of experiences. That may include getting to know your neighbours, or it may include camping in the wilderness, or it may include international yravel, or it may inclue making videos and posting photos to Flickr. And everything in between"

But we must go on and here i am with a post that shows how the Internet can be a powerful tool, pure irony...

As i said before, i receive an email from my teachers Ning comunity:

From there i went to the site of the conference: Creative Learning

In this page i found many articles and ideas that i didn`t knew, such as:

A book by an author called Antonio Nunez, who as a promotional video:

I also found a reference to George Siemens, whose work i have been folow and i advice you to see and follow too if you`re interested in ict tool: "Connectivism: - A learning Theory for the Digital Age"

From there i found reference to a Portuguese author that i didn`t know that existed: Roberto Caneiro, who wrote an article that i should have read a long time ago, that can be found here: New knowledge, new learning and creation of value (Ariadne’s Thread) , and it`s translated in 19 languages.

In the end of the page it was tree videos that i know leave to you:

In the last video i found a lot of ideas that i liked so i decided to search for them on google, here`s the phrases and the links that i found with those phrases on google:

Presky, M. Digital natives digital imigrants : Digital Natives, digital imigrants

Presky, M.  What can you learn from a cell phone? : What Can You Learn From a Cell Phone

Warlick, D. Teaching and learning on the Edge of change : Teaching and Learning in the Edge of change

National Center for Education Statistics: The condition of Education

Beside this "direct" quotes i also find a couple of things in the places i had been before:

From that site (http://www.elearningeuropa.info/)  i found many articles that are connected to this theme, and are translated in 19 languages:

One more "place" that i would like to leave is the site of Marc Presky: Marc Presky

And all of this was discovered from a simple email and some interest, so i leave this post writing, good discoveries for you too...
